The Art of Marcia Wyatt

ARTIST STATEMENT: At first glance, I hope you are totally drawn in the by the uniqueness of my art and you can barely resist the urge to touch. The pieces itself will give you permission to do that. Sometimes there will be lots of texture, giving you a big invitation to do exactly that. Other times, it will be smooth, wanting to been but not disturbed. You will know when you see it what to do.

I suppose, in some ways, I have not graduated artistically beyond finger-painting. I do stay “inside the lines” and I do fill the entire space. I use no brushes and art is on wood panels instead of canvas because I use a clay-based resin.

My artwork reflects me today. Honestly, there is no real story or history behind it. Just colors having fun with other colors. Sometimes blending together and sometimes shouting to be seen individually. There are irridescents that only come out with the right light and dark colors that never go away. I use color and respect their personalities and contain them on one surface. That’s the idea I start with and this is the end result.
